New season has started!!

The new season has started. Discovery is now in the Supermarket and Worcester and Early Windsor the next to be picked. The quality this year is outstanding and the warm weather in the spring has meant an early season. The Cox at Court Lodge in Egerton will be picked in early September for either immediate sale or long term storage depending on the markets. The Gala is in its third year, this fruit will be in the shops by early November.

M.K.G. FARM WALK

On Friday 12th August 2011, mkg hosted a sucessful farm walk for our members, suppliers and marketeers. We were delighted to see so many of our suppliers from accountants to nurseyman accompany the cooperatives members around River Farm, Staplehurst. Over a 100 people were able to view the winning Pear Orchard in the East Kent Fruit Society Orchard Competion. Nigel Bardsley explained to the group that he believed the contributing factor to the quality and size of the fruit was his fathers forsight in building a resevoir on the farm. Following the farm walk the group enjoyed first class catering and company; and the chance to discuss the coming season.
